What a fantastic way to start off 2010! I’ve been incredibly busy this past month with the planning of my new music video. I really want this video to be completely different to anything I’ve ever done so I’ve put a lot of hard work into it.
I finally got to see my visions turn into reality this past Saturday when we shot the video for “Slice Me Nice”. The shoot took place in an abandoned warehouse in Durban and although it was very time consuming, I had such a blast. I have to give credit to the AMAZING team that worked with me: Gervaise Evan Kelly, Bianca Kim Van Aardt, Kelli Baleta, Skye Krummeck, Hannah Katerere, Megan Carlsson, Jae, Robyn, Rob Forsyth, Martin Grondein, Jo-Anne Massey, Ryan Stewart and Toxic Candy. Without lending their exceptional talents to this project, none of it would have been possible.
I am so excited to see the end result and even more eager to share it with you. Here are a few behind the scenes pictures to wet your appetite.
Spectacular news! On Friday the 4th of December 2009, DJ Roxxi and I were invited into the East Coast Radio studios by Deon Govender. We were interviewed on air before revealing the number 1 song on the Top 9 at 9. To our surprise, it was our very own “Away”. We also heard that it was the most voted and requested song in the entire history of that chart. I would just like to thank Deon Govender for giving us such a wonderful opportunity, and to everyone for voting for our track. It is a huge dream come true!
I just had to let you in on some very exciting new developments with regards to my career. My latest track can be purchased from any music retail store across Southern Africa. It’s called “Slice Me Nice”, and it can be found on disc 2 of the “Hot Summer Mix 2010” compilation album. You can buy it online at Take 2.
I’ve got 4 or 5 shows coming up this month so check out my gigs section to see where I’ll be playing next. I’m also taking part in the 5th Annual FNB Dolphin Dash 2009 again this year. It’s going to be lots of fun, and it’s for a very good cause as proceeds go to the Sea Animal Rescue.
Last week, East Coast Radio playlisted the track that I did with DJ Roxxi, called “Away”. It’s already on heavy rotation so I’m extremely happy at the moment. Help support us by requesting “DJ Roxxi feat. Nic Billington – Away” on their official website. All you need to do is click on “Music” and full out your details with your song request, or send them to onair@ecr.co.za.
I’m sorry for taking so long in between posts. Things have really been heating up this side.
My Westwood Mall performance went very well last month. The crowd truly made the show quite special, probably one of my favourite performances to date.
I went up to Johannesburg two weeks ago to record a new track called “Slice Me Nice”. The song will appear on a compilation CD in the next month or so, which I am so excited about it. It’s a dance track with a very futuristic edge. I had a lot of fun recording it so I hope you like it.
Things are going to be a little quieter on nicbillington.com for a short while, but don’t despair because I will be back sooner than you think. I have tons of work to do at the moment so you just have to stick around to find out what’s happening, or… follow me on Twitter.
The Home Centre show went really well this past Saturday. I have a few more performances coming up so make sure you check out the gig section regulary. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!
Things are crazy at the moment as I’m busy preparing for an upcoming show. For the past week or so, I’ve been busy putting a routine together with my dancers. I’m going to be performing at the Value Centre Springfield Park Birthday Celebration this month. See “Gigs” section for more details. It should be quite fun!
Watch Nic pull out all the moves in this hilarious spoof of Beyonce’s Single Ladies. The Single Heavy Metal Rockers is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, especially with the surprise ending which evolves a top hat.
