Practice Session

Happy Easter! I’ve just finished a practice session with a very talented friend for my next YouTube cover.

Everything is finally coming together now. We want to practice it a bit more before recording our vocals. Once we’re confident with our lines and harmonies, we’ll get together and put it all down.

Everything is sounding great. I’m ecstatic! I’m loving the concept of working with someone else for a change.

Shy

I only have 3 more singing lessons until my exam. Eeek! The exam determines whether or not I go on to the next level of the syllabus, which is called Intermediate.

I must say that todays lesson was a huge eye opener for me. I have to somehow learn to overcome my lack of confidence as it is really holding me back, big time. The question now is, How? It is a problem that has been taunting me since day one. Although my shyness has improved over the last few months, I still don’t have the confidence that I require to go forward in my career.

In order to pass the exam I have sing (like I sing in the shower) in front of my teacher and an examiner. Watching my every move/expression, listening to every note that I make, or don’t! The good news is that my teacher said she wouldn’t let me do the exam if the thought I wasn’t ready for it, so at least there is some faith.

But how do you learn confidence?

The Hills and Valleys of Life

It is so ironic that one minute you’re on top of the world, and then suddenly, everything just goes horribly wrong.

I recently came back from a nice relaxing holiday only to find that my PC had crashed. Nooooo! All I could think about were my demos that I literally put my blood, sweat and tears into. Nevertheless, all was not lost. A good friend of mine managed to save my tracks. But then, out of the blue, my monitor just died.

Anyway, due to these unfortunate events, I’ve had time to think about my long term achievements with this blog and I’m proud to say that I’ve come up with some really interesting ideas to improve it.

I don’t want to spill the beans just yet, so you’ll have to stay tuned. It’s something to look forward to.

Do Re Mi…

Please excuse my lack of blogging for the past few days. Life is hectic at the moment. I wish I could duplicate myself sometimes just to get the necessary work done.

Well, I’ve gone from an extremely high point to an awful low in the past few days. The good news is that some progress has been made with my debut album. I have finally found the perfect producers to execute my ideas. I’m so excited.

The bad news is that today I’ve received an opinion, somewhat negative, from a person that I highly respect, especially in this industry. I’m not too upset by it because I agree with the comment that was made. It just gave me a little wake up call.

I’ve got a singing exam coming up on the 10^th of May, which I’m very nervous about, yet a little curious at the same time. It should be very interesting to see how I coup with it all. I have to learn a song from each of the following genres: Jazz, R&B/ Pop/ Hip Hop as well as one ballad and one musical. Not to mention a number of vocal exercises.
